NIC’s Board of Governors oversees the strategic direction of the college. It is a policy governance board, which makes policy-level decisions to guide the organization. It is empowered by the College and Institute Act of British Columbia to manage, administer and direct the affairs of the college.
What has impressed me the most, in the four years I’ve served on the Board of Governors of North Island College, is the commitment of faculty and staff to prioritizing students’ wellbeing. From ensuring supports are in place to promoting good mental health to advocating for funding to build much needed on-campus housing to rapidly developing programs to service both the needs of students but also the community, NIC puts students first.
