Subjects: Business

Kate has family roots in Vancouver and north Vancouver Island’s Nimpkish region. She attended college in California and began her career as a tax accountant for Coopers & Lybrand, LLP in San Jose. She began working independently while she raised her son.

Kate discovered her passion for teaching after taking an instructor position for an accounting course at a local community college. The experience began her transition away from accounting to instruction. She has since taught at several colleges in the Silicon Valley, at the University of California and in Montana.  She also worked for the Qatari government as an educator during the initial years of the newly-created community college system in Doha. Kate’s last assignment before returning to Vancouver Island was teaching cadets at the US Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut.

Kate travels extensively when she is not busy teaching. In her spare time, she enjoys performing home improvements and visiting with her son, who attends the Masters of Public Accountancy program at the University of Texas.
