Subjects: Early Childhood Education

As an instructor in the Early Childhood Care and Education programs I am grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside students from so many diverse backgrounds and life experiences. My career with North Island College began back in the early 1990s as a sessional instructor in the Early Childhood Care and Education certification program, at the Port Alberni campus. Through valued community partnerships and forward-thinking Administration at NIC, I have been fortunate to teach the ECCE certificate program in the First Nation communities of Ahousaht (2016, 2017) and Esowista (2018, 2019). In recent years our ECCE program has ventured into the world of scheduled, interactive digital deliveries which has enabled us to reach students in rural and remote areas. I’ve had the privilege of teaching the Infant and Toddler diploma to students on the West Coast, Port Alberni, and Port Hardy.  Since January of 2020 I have been involved with teaching and supporting international ECCE students. I am so grateful to work with a very dedicated team of instructors who meet students where they are and see their potential for where they will go.
