North Island College reaches tentative agreement with CUPE Local 3479

North Island College has reached a tentative agreement with CUPE Local 3479 representing support staff at NIC under the Province’s Shared Recovery Mandate.

These negotiations began in November 2022 at the multi-employer template table, which established a tentative agreement for the participating five post-secondary institutions on the main compensation items. The template is then combined with individual agreements reached at local-level bargaining. 

The tentative agreement covers approximately 260 CUPE Local 3479 support staff employees, who provide a number of services in student and library services, administration, facilities and instructional/technical support. 

The agreement details will be available once the ratification process is completed by CUPE Local 3479 members as well as the boards of both NIC and the Post-Secondary Employers’ Association, the employer bargaining agent for all public colleges, teaching universities and institutes in B.C.
