NIC students build yogurt processing system

Community invited to see demonstration of the YO-BOT

Students work in the Industrial Automation space at NIC’s Campbell River campus. Students are working on completing their capstone project – an automated yogurt machine.

NIC’s Industrial Automation students are inviting the community to the unveiling of their capstone project – the YO-BOT.

The automated yogurt processing system makes yogurt and dispenses it into individual servings with custom fruit and toppings.

“The capstone project showcases all the skills and knowledge that the students have acquired over the two years of their program,” said Brad Harsell, NIC’s Industrial Automation instructor.

The project recreates an automated production process in the lab, including robotics, automated controls, instrumentation and computer graphic interfaces and produces a useable product.

The demonstration will take place Thursday, May 24 at 2 pm at NIC’s Campbell River campus, in room D207.
