NIC supports Pride on the North Island

NIC is proud to support Pride and LGBTQ2S+ students, employees and community members across the region.

NIC employees raised the Pride flag at NIC’s Port Alberni campus on June 10 and the Campbell River campus will follow suit on Friday, June 18. The Pride flag will also be raised on NIC’s Comox Valley campus on July 19, in coordination with the Pride Society of the Comox Valley events.

Diversity, inclusion and equity are deeply held values of our college community and flying the rainbow Pride flag at college facilities is a visual reminder of support for LGBTQ2S+ students, employees and community members.

(Note: Pride flags will be raised to half-mast in recognition of families and communities who are mourning as a result of the former residential school sites in Kamloops and other locations).

Due to COVID-19 pandemic and provincial health guidelines, we are not able to host in-person large group Pride events this year.

However, the Library & Learning Commons has prepared a subject guide featuring LGBTQ2S+ resources, including reading lists, Pride book displays and more: https://library.nic.bc.ca/lgbtq2s

NIC is also proud to support virtual Pride events in the community. See the related news section below for information on upcoming events.
