The Canadian Mental Health Association of BC has scholarships and bursaries available.

Applications are open for the CMHA BC scholarships and bursaries program. There is a range of awards available for college students with lived experience of mental health or substance use concerns living in BC. More information can be found at: cmha.bc.ca/bursary. Please direct questions to: healthy.campuses@cmha.bc.ca

2022 Fall Orientation – Save the dates!

We are excited to share that we will have our first in-person student orientation in 2 years this fall! Mark your calendar with these dates (more details to come):

Comox Valley and Campbell River campuses: Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Wednesday, Sept. 7

Port Alberni campus: Tuesday, Sept. 6 Tuesday, Sept. 13 (Roger Street), Wednesday, Sept. 7 (Tebo Avenue)

Mixalakwila campus: dates to be confirmed 

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Courtenay Fire Department is seeking recruits

Volunteer applications are now being accepted. Anyone interested in applying is welcome to visit the Courtenay Fire Hall at 650 Cumberland Rd. on Wednesday, July 27 between 6 - 8 pm to meet the team, ask questions, and find out what it’s like to join this progressive, inclusive, highly trained department. Campus Life Assistants

Would you like to work with Student Life to develop projects, plan events or create posts for social media? Do you want to gain valuable experience that you can add to your resume? NIC Student Life is looking to hire Campus Life Assistants. Email us at studentlife@nic.bc.ca to find out more.

NIC SUPPORTS & SERVICES

Contact NIC’s Early Assist for personal or academic campus and community supports. 

  • Support services include: emergency financial aid, indigenous supports, counselling, accommodation for disability and much more.
  • Email: earlyassist@nic.bc.ca to reach out.
  • If there is an emergency or it is outside regular office hours, call 911 or the Vancouver Island Crisis Line at 1-888-494-3888. You can also visit Here2Talk.
  • The NIC Library and Learning Commons at the Campbell River and Port Alberni campuses will close on Thursday, June 30 and re-open on August 28. The Comox Valley Library and Learning Commons will stay open for the summer, Mondays to Fridays from 8 am to 4 pm. Academic supports are available in person at CV or book online. Visit the LLC website for more information.
