North Island College’s annual wine festival is back and better than ever! This year the “007” Wine Festival, presented by the students and faculty of NIC’s Tourism and Hospitality Program, will be held from 7 – 9:30 pm on Friday April 13, 2007. The event will take place at a new location, Campbell River’s Cape Mudge Band Quinsam Centre. The College is delighted to partner with the new Centre which is also a sponsor of the event. The brand new conference facility is top of the line so students are expecting the finest wine festival Campbell River has ever seen. This is the 5th annual wine festival and this year, the wine festival is distinguished by a “007” theme and guests are requested to dress to impress.
The “007” Wine Festival features wine tasting from a variety of wine representatives featuring wines from around the world. Also included in this great value package are hors d’oeuvres, specialty sampling, wine seminars, live entertainment, door prizes, and a silent but deadly auction. “Last year’s wine seminars were well received and we are expecting an even greater turn out this year”, said WineWise writer Doug Sloan. “Come out and support the Tourism and Hospitality Management students and enjoy an evening of entertainment and education”.
“We have more wine representatives than ever this year and with each one serving several different brands of wines; there should be hundreds to choose from”, states NIC instructor Jonelle Knowles.
“Students in the Tourism and Hospitality program are responsible for the organization and operation of the event; and have always met and exceeded guest expectations,” comments Chair of NIC Foundation Urbain Patrick. The wine festival is an opportunity for students to learn and understand all the steps in planning and running an event, and these skills will benefit them in future endeavours. The proceeds from this event go towards student learning and future student activities and tickets are going faster than an Aston Martin!
Tickets for this great value event are only $40 and are available at NIC’s Comox Valley and Campbell River campus bookstores, Riptide Marine Liquor Store, Royal Coachmen Beer and Liquor Store, Coast Discovery Inn Beer and Wine, and Showcase Theatre Offices in Courtenay. The ‘state of the art’ venue, Cape Mudge Band Quinsam Centre, is located at 102, 2005 Eagle Drive off of Willis Road, just west of the inland Island highway.
