19th Century Romantic Poetry

The 19th century Romantic Poets reacted against a callous, mechanical view of life in Europe's Age or Reason, and instead looked for meaning in nature, emotion, and the sublime. This movement was led by gifted introspective youths and elderly misfits driven to challenge civilization's greed and arrogance, and instead embrace the humbling mystery of life. This 6-part course will look at the ideas and work of writers such as William Blake, William Wordsworth, and John Keats amongst others.
