Basics of Operating Your Digital Camera (COMM-3349)
Learn how to use your digital camera’s applications and menu options. Designed to help you learn functions of a digital camera and to
start shooting pictures in the Program and Auto scene modes. Also covers downloading and printing at home or from labs.

Basic Digital Photography (COMP-3512)
An introductory course for those new to digital single-lens reflect (SLR) photography, covering basic photographic controls such as exposure,
focus, depth of field, metering, and white balance. You will learn through lectures, workshops, and slide shows. Critiques of student work will
stress positive achievement, and work to build the confidence to tackle more challenging photographic work. Please note: Bring a digital SLR
camera to class. No “point and shoot” cameras.

Discovering Photography (COMM-3339)
Photographer Boomer Jerritt will lead this workshop which is suitable for anyone who would like to further their picture taking skills using a
digital single-lens reflex camera (SLR). The workshop is taught from a visual design standpoint and helps the beginner photographer further
their own visual expression. Please bring a 35mm film or digital SLR camera to class. No “point and shoot” cameras. Course
includes one field trip.

Basic Digital Workflow (COMM-3343)
Advance beyond the entry-level courses, Basic and Discovering Photography, to post production considerations as you apply your understanding
of camera operations to the output of a final product at the printing stage. Today’s digital photographer needs to know as much about post-capture
processes as the act of taking the photograph. Participants should have a basic understanding of Photoshop or Lightroom. Classes are fun and
enlightening and are not overly technical.

Photoshop: An Introduction (COMP-3510)
Explore the creative potential of digital image editing using Photoshop CS4. You will build a strong foundation of skills as you learn to
enhance and retouch images through hands-on assignments. This course is the perfect introduction to Photoshop for digital photographers or anyone
interested in digital visual art or graphic design.
Prerequisite: Basic computer skills on PC or Mac. This course is taught on Macs and the text
is included.

NEW! Basic Lighting (COMM-3301)
Learn the fundamentals of lighting. This course covers equipment selection and lighting techniques with an emphasis on practical
sessions in and out of the studio. Recognize the potential of lighting to suit the needs of your subject. Students will learn many tips and
tricks of the trade such as accurate metering, simulated sunlight for cloudy days, lighting glass and metal, mixed lighting, how to use strobes
and hot lights.

NEW! Portraiture & Weddings (COMM-3342)
Learn to shoot captivating portraits in a variety of situations in this exciting course. This class draws on more than 15 years of Paul Wenger’s
experience in professional photography. You will gain an awareness of light and background, and make creative use of flash and focal length.
Prerequisites: Basic Digital or Discovering Photography & Basic Lighting. Please bring the following to the workshop:
camera plus either film or a digital card, five to six prints or digital display images you have already taken and a bag lunch.
