Accommodation

Select the right accommodation to suit your needs. As an international student you may chose a homestay, rent an apartment, share a home with other students, or stay with family or friends. We encourage you to choose a living environment in which you are comfortable and able to pay attention to your studies. Finding accommodation on a bus route or close to NIC is also a good idea.

Homestay is often the first choice for international students. You live in a home with a Canadian family. You are provided with your own room and access to all the services in the home including telephone, laundry, television and radio. You eat your meals with the family and have the chance to spend leisure time with them as well. If you are interested in homestay we suggest you contact Comox Valley Homestay for more information.

Apartment living is also an option that works for some students. It provides you a chance to learn to live in the community on your own. You will have to sign a rental agreement, arrange for services like telephone and cable television access, and of course pay the bills for these services. You will do your own shopping and meal preparation too! Apartment living can be lonely for students who have just arrived but may work well once you have build a circle of friends and are ready to be on your own.

As an international student you can find a great place to live through our Off-Campus Student Housing Service. Students can browse apartments and houses for rent, post a personal profile and hunt for roommates. Information is reviewed and posted daily, so you know your housing information is always up-to-date.

General listings are also available through two local newspapers, The Comox Valley Echo. and the The Comox Valley Record.

Short-term accommodation is also available at hotels, hostels and bed and breakfasts.
