All students are required to have medical insurance so you can afford the medical care you may need. NIC enrols students into a medical insurance plan to ensure coverage upon arrival. For those students on a study permit, once you have arrived you will be required to apply for the provincial medical insurance plan, known as MSP. You will have 3 months in which to be enrolled on the MSP plan, so you are advised at orientation to complete this immediately.
During orientation you will be briefed on our medical system of medical clinics, dentist offices and hospitals. In the event of an emergency, we will contact your family if you are seriously injured and not able to contact them yourself. We can also assist you with completing the necessary insurance paperwork.
At NIC, international students have international student success advisors knowledgeable about the needs of international students in choosing the right courses/program for you and able to advise you of additional services and support NIC has to offer dependent on your needs.
