NIC Ingenuity on Edge series explores digital advertising

NIC’s DIGITAL Design + Development program is welcoming local digital marketing specialist Jen Rollins as the next presenter in the Ingenuity on Edge workshop series.

Rollins is the director of operations at The Update Company. She has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and business development and will speak Tuesday, March 9 at 9:30 am.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jen for this innovative workshop to discuss the components and planning for digital marketing campaigns,” said Ashley Blacquiere, NIC faculty member and series coordinator. “Digital marketing is a growing area for all businesses. This workshop will help you to know what to do, how to do it and how to determine what’s working and what’s not so you can adjust your campaign moving forward.”

Her workshop will focus on creating digital advertising campaigns, including benchmarks and measurements, research, targeting and analysis.

“I’ve put together thousands of ad campaigns and I’ve learned that whether you are targeting hyper-local or international, whether your budget is big or small, there are fast and easy ways to get the right person to click on your ad at the right time,” said Rollins. “I’m excited to do this workshop and share this knowledge – it will be a lot of fun.”

This the second workshop in the series, which was launched this term by DIGITAL Design + Development faculty to create an opportunity for students, faculty and members of the public to connect with local industry experts and hear about the latest trends and technological improvements in the fields of user experience design, mobile app development, and digital advertising.

“One of the most exciting things about our industry is that it evolves and changes at a fast pace – there’s always something new to learn,” said Blacquiere. “This series of workshops provides an opportunity to learn about new industry techniques directly from those who practice them daily.”

Along with learning the latest industry trends, the workshops also provide an opportunity for students to connect with local professionals in the industry.

“The connection between students and local members of our industry is extremely important,” said Blacquiere. “These workshops provide an opportunity for our students to see where the skills and knowledge they are building in our programs can take them.”

NIC’s DIGITAL Design + Development programs focus on developing in-depth, employment-ready skills, teaching students to confidently design and code beautiful, highly functional digital products. Students can chose between the design stream, focusing on branding, graphic design and front-end web development, the development stream, focused on programming languages and tools for web and app development, or combine the two streams in the advanced diploma.

Ingenuity on Edge: Jen Rollins takes place Tuesday, March 9 from 9:30 – 12:30. The workshop is free to attend. You can register at https://nicart.tickit.ca/.
