Standing Committees

The Education Council is supported by the work of three standing committees. These committees support program development and changes before the proposed changes come before the council for consideration.

Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee meets monthly to review new curriculum and curriculum revisions before they are submitted to Education Council for approval. The committee gives constructive feedback to curriculum developers, and recommends completed curriculum documents to Education Council for approval.

The Curriculum Committee is made up of 50% faculty (at least two of whom must be in attendance at any meeting), at least one support staff member, at least one student, at least one representative from student services, at least one senior administrator with academic responsibilities, and at least three members of Education Council.

Planning and Standards Committee

The Planning and Standards Committee meets monthly and reports out to Education Council at each meeting, making recommendations for approval of new and revised policies on education and student services.

The Planning and Standards Committee is made up of at least 50% faculty (at least two of whom must be in attendance at any meeting), at least one support staff member, at least one student, at least one representative from student services, the Director of Student Services or designate, at least one senior administrator with academic responsibilities, and at least three members of Education Council.

Fast Track Committee

The Fast Track committee meets as necessary to provide for a quick, one-time-only, approval of curriculum when the timelines of the normal approval process cannot be met. All Fast Track approved curriculum must be approved by Education Council before a second offering can be offered.

The Fast Track committee is made up of at least 50% faculty, chair of curriculum committee (who will also act as Fast Track chair), chair of Education Council, Vice President for academic matters (who will participate as needed), and at least three additional members (including one additional member of Education Council, one additional member of Curriculum Committee, and one member at large).
