A new CBC mini-series that was filmed in the Comox Valley last May airs on Jan. 9.

Joan Miller, film commissioner for the Vancouver Island North Film Commission, told the Comox Valley Record that the production was an opportunity for graduates from NIC's TV & Film Crew Training program to gain valuable work experience and also benefited the local economy.

The eight-part mini-series, Unspeakable, is about the Canadian tainted blood scandal of the early 1980s.

The Vancouver-based production filmed part of the series in May 2018 in two Valley locations: the Comox Valley Airport and St. Joseph’s General Hospital.
