Joan Miller, film commissioner for the Vancouver Island North Film Commission, told the Comox Valley Record that the production was an opportunity for graduates from NIC's TV & Film Crew Training program to gain valuable work experience and also benefited the local economy.
The eight-part mini-series, Unspeakable, is about the Canadian tainted blood scandal of the early 1980s.
The Vancouver-based production filmed part of the series in May 2018 in two Valley locations: the Comox Valley Airport and St. Joseph’s General Hospital.
