Okanagan Charter Signing

Please join us for the official launch and ceremonial signing of the Okanagan Charter at NIC.

The Okanagan Charter is a commitment to Health and Well-being. In 2015, the Okanagan Charter was signed by over 380 higher education leaders and delegates from around the world. The signees pledged to bring the Charter back to their institutions as a framework to help identify and support positive change in the area of health promotion. Since then, more than twenty-five postsecondary institutions have formally adopted the Charter.

Supporting mental health and well-being has always been important to the NIC community as evidenced by the numerous and varied initiatives that already exist or are in development. The adoption of the Okanagan Charter enables us to be intentional and clearly articulate our commitment to a thriving campus culture and community.

We invite you to join us to learn more about this international Charter and what it means to the NIC community.

The event will include a series of short speeches, a video with NIC student and employee voices, and the ceremonial signing. It is also kicks off NIC’s Mental Health Week, which features a range of events to support good mental health.

We look forward to seeing you at the charter signing and at the NIC Mental Health Week events next week.
