Marine Birds & Their Close Relationship To the Arctic

ElderCollege Course

Jill is Executive Director of Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT) in Victoria. She earned a MSc in Seabird Biology from Memorial University and participates in wildlife research projects throughout the world. Her on-site research involves migration patterns, breeding biology, and wild courtship displays of seabirds and shorebirds. In this presentation, Jill invites us to think about the birds migrating through our Valley and where they are going. Many birds we see locally are on tight travel schedules, with complicated flight itineraries, taking a brief lay over on Vancouver Island before heading to more northern shores. Like the birds, Jill enjoys travelling to remote places and will talk about her Artic-based research. Instructor: Jill Robinson, Msc.
