Reich Marshall Hermann Goering visited Colditz early in WWII. He declared the castle to be 'escape-proof'. Was he wrong! Come and see how a man educated in Irish catholic schools and a bookkeeper from Brandon, Manitoba pulled off one of the most famous World War II escapes. See how the Dutch pulled off an incredibly audacious escape and then did the same the next day. The presenter is closely related to one of the escapees and has recently visited Colditz Castle. The escapes will be illustrated using power point with pictures, diagrams, and maps. Facilitator: Mike Naish.
