RGU Scotland Degree Pathway

One-year degree pathway available to NIC Business Administration students

  • Spend a year in Scotland to earn a recognized three-year UK degree after completing your Business Administration Diploma (or 60 equivalent credits).
  • Maximize opportunity by returning to NIC for one more year of study to earn a Canadian degree in addition to your UK degree.

CHOOSE NORTH ISLAND COLLEGE

  • Receive an international education. Transfer two years (60 credits) of business administration courses to Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen Scotland to complete a UK degree with only one additional year of study.
  • Study in Scotland and earn two degrees. Qualify for a full four-year degree by returning to NIC after studying abroad in Scotland. After completing the third-year of your UK degree in Scotland, you can return to NIC for one more year of study and earn a four-year business degree from NIC.
  • Connect Globally. Earn international credentials while studying at NIC as part of a network of local and international business leaders.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

The RGU Scotland-NIC Transfer Agreement gives NIC business students an opportunity to gain international experience, perspectives and contacts. Once you complete the third-year of your UK degree in Scotland, you will have credit for 75% of an NIC four-year business degree.

To qualify for entry to RGU's Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Management or Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Management with Marketing degree, you will need to complete 60 credits of NIC's  Business Administration diploma (general management or marketing) or NIC's Bachelor of Business Administration degree (general management or marketingand maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA (B average) or higher.

Choose the general management option if you are looking for a program that covers a broad base of management functions. Sharing a common first year with other diploma options, you will continue into second year to learn commercial law, consumer behaviour, e-business, management information systems and entrepreneurial and small business management. 

Choose the marketing option to gain practical skills and a solid foundation of knowledge for employment in a marketing environment. Second year courses include consumer behaviour, professional selling, retail management, services marketing, and entrepreneurship and small business management. 

RGU will grant you a degree after you successfully complete the third-year of the non-placement route.

Upon completion, you can return to NIC for the fourth year of NIC’s Bachelor of Business Administration General Management or Bachelor of Business Administration Marketing degree. This allows you to earn a second degree at NIC with just one more year of study.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for advanced entry to Year 3 of Robert Gordon University’s Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Management or Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Management with Marketing, you must:

  • complete 60 credits of NIC’s Business Administration diploma with general management or marketing specialization
  • achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
  • obtain a reference from an NIC program faculty member
  • show evidence that you meet English language requirements if your first language is not English
  • be eligible to obtain the requisite visa to enter the United Kingdom for study purposes

Transfer Credit & Credit For Prior Learning

The NIC business administration program accepts course transfer credit from a wide range of post secondary institutions and professional organizations. Detailed course transfer information for BC institutions may be found by accessing the BC Transfer Guide. Students possessing other applicable prior learning may request prerequisite waivers for selected courses.

To Be Successful

  • Basic computer skills in word processing and file management are required.
  • Consult with a business administration faculty member if you are unsure of your level of math preparedness for any business courses.
