Delivery Methods

For the 2020/2021 academic year, NIC programs and courses will be offered through one of three delivery methods. The type of delivery is determined by how best to ensure you gain the knowledge, skills and experience you need for your program.

The type of delivery for your program is listed in the quick stats on the upper right side of the program page.

Program delivery methods

Off-campus, Digital Scheduled Class

  • scheduled live online meeting times with instructor
  • defined start and end dates
  • access to a computer and the internet required

Off-campus, Digital Unscheduled Class

  • no scheduled class time
  • instructor may schedule optional live online meeting times
  • defined start and end dates
  • access to a computer and the internet required

On-campus and Digital (Blended)

  • includes both digital delivery and on-campus instruction
  • digital delivery may be scheduled or unscheduled
  • scheduled, on-campus meeting times
  • defined start and end dates
  • access to a computer and the internet required

If you are taking individual courses or electives, you will find the delivery information for individual courses in the course codes in Timetable.

Course Delivery Codes

DLS: Digital, Scheduled Class

DLU: Digital Unscheduled Class

B: On-campus and Digital (Blended)

You can find the delivery method in the third section of the course code.

Examples:

  • BUS-100-DLS1B = Digital, Scheduled Class
  • CFH-112-CRB1 = On-campus and Digital Blended. For Blended courses, the campus location is also indicated: CR = Campbell River

NIC offers other methods of course delivery which you may see while exploring individual courses.

DLC: Digital Continuous Entry

  • off-campus
  • individualized instruction and meeting times
  • student specific start and end dates
  • access to a computer and the internet required

DLF: Digital Flexible

  • off-campus
  • no scheduled online meeting times
  • student start dates flexible up to 6 weeks into the term, space permitting
  • student end dates vary based on start date
  • access to a computer and the internet required

S: Scheduled

  • on-campus
  • scheduled classes
  • defined start and end dates
  • access to a computer and internet not required for lectures

T: Interactive Television

  • on-campus
  • scheduled in-person classes through interactive television with other students over more than one campus
  • defined start and end dates
  • access to computer and internet not required for lectures

C: Continuous Entry/Exit

  • on-campus
  • students attend on-campus for individualized instruction and maintain regular contact with instructor (at least once per week)
  • flexible schedule
  • student-specific start and end dates
  • access to a computer and the internet not required for instruction
