Accessibility for Students

NIC is committed to providing all students with a safe, accessible environment. The resources listed below are available for students at NIC.

Department of Accessible Learning - Programs (DAL-P): DAL-P is a long standing NIC program that supports adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities (IDD) in their learning. The DAL Programs specifically train students for employment.

Department of Accessible Learning Services: The Department of Accessible Learning Services coordinates disability-related accommodations and educational initiatives designed to remove barriers for students with disabilities and ongoing medical conditions in all aspects of college life.

Assessment Services: Accommodated testing services are available for NIC assessments, SkilledTradesBC (formerly ITA) and other external exams through the Department of Accessible Learning Services.

Library and Learning Commons: The Library and Learning Commons offers services, technologies, and equipment in a quiet, scent-free environment, and supports students with diverse accessibility needs throughout their educational experience at NIC.

The North Island Students’ Union (NISU) is available to offer information about the student health and dental plan and also to support student advocacy.
