The Centre for Applied Research, Technology and Innovation (CARTI) supports NIC projects that engage students in community-based research initiatives. Some of the services we offer are listed below:

Services for Faculty & Staff

  • Grant seeking services – identifying potential project funding sources and supporting proposal development
  • Matchmaking services – connecting community partners with other institutions
  • Budgeting support and financial monitoring
  • Support with navigating internal processes, such as HR, to facilitate your project
  • Support with hiring student research assistants
  • Support with providing software and other research tools
  • Promotion and communication of applied research and innovation activities
  • Host applied research and innovation activities

Services for Business & Organizations

  • Grant seeking services – identifying potential project funding sources and supporting proposal development. Grants are available to help small businesses to partner with NIC on an innovation question or to build new technology.
  • Matchmaking services – connecting community partners with researchers at NIC or other institutions
  • Support with hiring student research assistants
  • Promotion and communication of applied research and innovation activities
  • Access to specialized equipment
