Field schools allow you to have an immersive experience while travelling and studying with other students and faculty leads. Because field schools are typically much shorter than exchanges (usually 3 to 5 weeks), the cost of participation is usually significantly less than an exchange.

It’s hard to put into words how extraordinary an experience it was. Anyone who has the opportunity to do a field school should do it. You learn so much, not just about another culture, but about yourself. It was life changing.
