NIC instructor put beard on the line for Ukraine fundraiser

NIC instructor Darren George before and after shaving his beard as a fundraiser for those affected by the war in Ukraine.

Update: Darren George raised $2700 and has shaved off his wizardly beard. Thanks to all who contributed.

Darren George, chemistry instructor and faculty member in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math, has (with his family) spent a lot of time in Kyiv, a city that is currently undergoing a serious humanitarian crisis. He decided to use his wizardly beard to raise money for the Red Cross to support those affected by the war in Ukraine. He set his fundraising goal for $2500, and has raised enough to force him to shave off his glorious beard. You’ll be able to admire Darren’s clean shaven face in person around campus now.  Thank you for all of those who generously contributed to the campaign, which wrapped up on April 9, 2022.
