Youth can get a sample of aerospace trade

Students attending the Trade Sampler program will learn about the aerospace industry and trades such as welding and metal fabrication.

High school students can explore the aerospace industry and try out multiple trades in an upcoming youth trades sampler at NIC’s Campbell River campus.

Emphasis will be on the aerospace industry but students are also introduced to aircraft structures, metal fabrication, mechanics, electrical and welding. In addition, students earn their WHMIS, and OFA Level 1 certifications during this sampler, which runs Jan. 27 to April 24.

The sampler program provides an introduction to the health and safety standards and requirements for today’s worksite environment, as well as a pathway to further foundation and apprenticeship training offered at NIC.

The program runs Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and costs $550.
