Next year, there will be more trained education assistants and community support workers available to support North Vancouver Island communities through a partnership between NIC and the Mount Waddington Family Literacy Society.

“North Island College is thrilled to partner with the Mount Waddington Family Literacy Society to bring this program to the region,” said Donna Merry, Regional Manager, North Island College, Mixalakwila campus. “There are significant shortages of qualified educational assistants and community support workers in our area, which impacts children and adults needing support the most, but also teachers and families. This is one example of the many partnerships we are engaged in, bringing community-led programming to learners, and reducing barriers so students can fully participate in the program.”
