NIC nursing students share stories from Nepal

Travel to Nepal and back with NIC nursing students as they share their experiences from their six-week practicum in Nepal Wednesday, October 18 at NIC’s Comox Valley campus.

This spring, NIC’s fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing students worked with the Nepal Youth Foundation, which provides educational support for caregivers and nutritional rehabilitation services to children experiencing malnutrition.

They also provided support to a Nepali nurse educator who works with women released from prison and their children and a community organizer to establish the health records and assessments of children in a rural village.

Students will be sharing their reflections of their experiences of living and working with the Nepali people.

The presentation takes place in the Stan Hagen Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 pm, with the event beginning at 7 pm.

Admission is by donation to NIC’s Global Learning Initiative, which aims to foster awareness of global issues through partnerships with local communities and individuals.

The trip is one of many study abroad opportunities available to NIC students in a wide variety of program areas. For more information on locations, application requirements and financial support, visit www.nic.bc.ca/studyabroad.
