NIC Opens Aboriginal Student Lounge in the Comox Valley

NIC opened a dedicated Aboriginal Student Lounge in the Comox Valley this week to create a welcoming home for Aboriginal students.

The day was marked by celebratory speeches, songs and drumming with NIC Elders in Residence, administration, advisors, staff and students.

NIC has Aboriginal Student Lounges in Port Alberni, Campbell River and the Comox Valley. These spaces provide Aboriginal students on campus with a place to meet, host study groups, and take part in cultural workshops. 

The college serves 35 First Nations in the in the region as well as students from First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities across Canada.
