NIC human services students study abroad in the Philippines

NIC Human Services students practice the Cebuano language while on field school in the Philippines.

NIC human services students are in Cebu, Philippines May 1  to 28, gaining academic credit as they take part in a variety of community development projects in partnership with Cebu Normal University

Eight second-year NIC students are travelling  with their instructor Susan Shantz to remote communities surrounding Cebu to engage in parenting education, cultural preservation and education, out-of-school youth development and more. While the trip is one of many study abroad opportunities available to NIC students, it is the first time NIC human services students will participate in an international practicum placement.
