NIC50+5 Strategic Planning Survey Prize Draw Official Rules and Regulations

(updated Sept. 15, 2025)

Scope

1.      These rules and regulations (the “Contest Rules”) govern the prize draws (the “Contest”) associated with North Island College’s (the “College”) NIC50+5 Strategic Planning Survey 2025 (the “Survey”).

Contest period

2.      The Contest will open on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 11:59:59 p.m. PDT (the “Contest Start Date”) and will close on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:59:59 p.m. PST (the “Contest End Date”). Only entries received during this period (the “Contest Period”) will be entered into the Contest.

Contest draw date

3.      The draws for Contest prizes will begin on Friday, November 14, 2025 or on a following business day (“Contest Draw Date”), without undue delay, and continue where and as necessary.

Eligibility

4.      The Contest is open to residents of British Columbia who have reached the age of majority in British Columbia as of the Contest Start Date. Only one (1) entry per person will be deemed to be an eligible entry in the Contest.

5.      The Contest is open to employees of the College, except for those responsible for administering the Contest in some fashion (“Contest Administrators”) and the immediate family members (i.e., mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter or spouse) thereof.

How to enter

6.      To participate in the Contest, an entrant must fill out the Contest entry form found on the last page of the Survey. Answers to Survey questions are not necessary and will neither improve nor diminish the entrant’s chances of winning. Only entries received during the Contest Period will be entered into the Contest and personal information collected through the entry form will be used solely for the administration of the Contest.

Prizes

7.      Contest entrants can win one of the following six (6) prizes:

  1. One (1) grand prize package of 1 x $100 VISA gift card and an NIC-branded Anián shirt (approx. total package value $200); or
  2. One secondary prize of (1) $50 Visa gift card (5 total)

8.      A prize must be accepted as awarded, is non-refundable, cannot be replaced if lost or stolen and is not convertible to cash. The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period.

Drawing entries

9.      On the Contest Draw Date, eligible entries will be pooled, and ten (10) entries (“Selected Entrants”) will be randomly drawn, recording the order of drawing, where the first drawn is #1, the second drawn is #2, and so forth.

Determining prize winners

10. Prizes will be distributed based on the order of drawing. The first Selected Entrant will be contacted by a Contest Administrator using the contact information provided in their entry to be notified that they have been selected for the grand prize (“Winner Confirmation”). The Selected Entrant will then be given 48 hours to respond from the time they were contacted (“Confirmation Window”).

11. If a Selected Entrant fails to respond within the Confirmation Window, they will be deemed to have forfeit their prize and will be struck from the list of Selected Entrants, and the next Selected Entrant will be contacted. This will continue on an individual basis until the grand prize is successfully awarded or until the list of Selected Entrants is exhausted. Should the list of Selected Entrants be exhausted, ten (10) new Selected Entrants will be drawn, and the process shall continue.

12. Once the grand prize has been awarded, the next five (5) Selected Entrants will be contacted by a Contest Administrator to be notified that they have been selected for a secondary prize. Any of these Selected Entrants who fail to respond within the Confirmation Window, will be struck from the list of Selected Entrants and be replaced by the next Selected Entrant not yet contacted, based on order of drawing. This will proceed until all five (5) secondary prizes have been awarded or until the list of Selected Entrants is exhausted. Should the list of Selected Entrants be exhausted, ten (10) new Selected Entrants will be drawn, and the process shall continue.

13. Once a Selected Entrant has either been either struck from the list of Selected Entrants or awarded a prize, they are no longer eligible to win any further Contest prizes.

14. If there are fewer than ten (10) eligible entries to be drawn, then the remainder of the eligible entries shall be drawn. If all eligible entries are exhausted before all prizes have been awarded, the drawing process shall conclude and prizes that are yet to be awarded shall remain unawarded.

Confirming winners

15. To be awarded a prize, a Selected Entrant must a) be eligible and in compliance with these Contest Rules; b) correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a mathematical, skill-testing question provided by the College; and c) sign and return (by mail to 2300 Ryan Rd, Courtenay, BC V9N 8N6 c/o Marketing & Future Students; or by email to an email address provided at time of Winner Confirmation) within five business days of receipt an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release (“Declaration and Release document”) releasing the College, advertising or promotional agencies, and its affiliates from any liability, losses, damages and expenses which may be suffered or incurred in connection with this Contest or the prizes.

Protection of Personal Information

16. Any personal information collected by the College about Contest entrants is solely for the purpose of administering this Contest. No further communication will be received by entrants unless entrants provide North Island College with permission to do so. Please see our Privacy and Collections Statement for information on North Island College’s policy towards maintaining the privacy and security of personal information.

Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and/or civil laws. Should any such attempt be made, the College reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.

18. The College takes no responsibility for typographical errors or other production errors, including but not limited to, in any comments posted on the College’s social channel feeds or in any advertising.

19. By accepting a prize, each declared Winner consents to the use of his/her entry, user name, first name, statements, city of residence and/or photograph or other likeness in any advertising or promotional activities carried out in any medium by North Island College, without further notice or compensation.

20. Entrants release and hold harmless the College, its affiliated companies, advertising and promotional agencies, and all of its directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the “Releasees”) from any liability in connection with this Contest or the awarding of a prize.

21. Further, the College and the Releasees are not responsible for any errors or omissions in the advertising of this Contest. The College and the Releasees assume no responsibility for the failure of the internet or the website during the Contest Period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, online computer systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to participation in the Contest.

Other terms, conditions, rules and regulations

22. This Contest will be run in accordance with these Contest Rules, subject to amendment by the College only. By entering, entrants agree to abide by the Contest Rules and will be deemed to have received, read and understood them by participating in the Contest.

23. The College reserves the right to terminate or amend this Contest at any time and in any way, without prior notice. Without limiting the foregoing, if, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, such as tampering or infection by computer virus, the College reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel the Contest all together or to conduct a random draw from all previously received eligible entries to select prize winner(s) for the remaining prize(s).

24. This Contest is void where prohibited and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations. The Contest is governed by the laws of the province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
