Erik is a Red Seal-endorsed, journeyman carpenter with a background in both the commercial
and residential construction industries. After many years in commercial work, Erik
returned to the residential sector as a site superintendent for a mid-sized home builder
in Edmonton, where he helped oversee the construction of more than 100 homes per year.
Eventually, Erik’s career led him to a teaching, first with Northern Alberta Institute
of Technology. In 2011, Erik was part of the team that developed and delivered the
first carpentry apprenticeship program at the Trades Training Centre on our Comox
Valley campus, where he continues to strive to deliver top quality programming and
pass on some of his tricks of the trade to his students.
