Overview

This program is an ideal start for someone seeking entry-level employment in the marine industry — including commercial fishing, operating small passenger vessels, eco-tourism and other sectors. No previous experience is needed, meaning this training is a great option if you're looking to retrain for a new career or get back into the workforce. If you already have some experience in the industry, the program also allows you to sharpen your resume with new skills.

In addition to core Transport Canada industry certifications, you'll also earn other key certifications to find employment, including Marine Basic First Aid, WHMIS and FoodSafe. Our curriculum also includes a careers and job readiness course to prepare you to find and apply for both advertised and non-advertised work.

After graduating and finding work, you'll also earn sea-time hours and be able to work toward advanced certifications and endorsements, such as Master, Limited (under 60GT).

Schedule

Training will be in-person in Campbell River from Sept. 4-26, 2025. Classes run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
