Costa Rica
March 2025
This nine-day program offered a learning experience in Indigenous knowledge, culture and sustainability in Costa Rica. It highlighted how language, ceremony and the land are central to Indigenous identity and resilience. Students built connections with members of the Boruca and Ngäbe communities.
Students explored the challenges and successes of Indigenous language revitalization. They drew connections between their own experiences and those of the Boruca people, who are working to keep their language alive under global pressures. Through workshops and discussions, participants learned how the Boruca language’s shapes their economy, cultural practices and connection to the land.
