Tax receipts
T2202 tuition and enrolment certificate
The T2202 Tuition and Enrolment Certificate is an official Canadian tax receipt issued to students who have paid eligible tuition and fees for qualifying courses. The T2202 can be used to claim tuition amounts on your Canadian income tax return.
Accessing your T2202
Your T2202 tax receipt is available through your myNIC account. Log in and select "Financial Information" from the "Student Self‑Service" menu. T2202 certificates are issued annually and are typically available by the end of February for the previous tax year.
Social Insurance Number (SIN) requirement
Providing your Social Insurance Number (SIN) ensures accurate tax reporting. NIC is required to submit each student’s SIN to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as part of the T2202 process.
Students can securely submit or update their SIN through the online SIN Submission page, accessible after logging in with myNIC credentials.
SIN information
Details about Social Insurance Numbers, including eligibility and application instructions, are available on the Government of Canada Social Insurance Number overview page.
International students and the T2202
International students who have earned income in Canada and are filing a Canadian income tax return must provide their SIN to NIC. A T2202 will be issued and may be used to claim eligible tuition fees when filing taxes in Canada.
