English Proficiency Award

This award is for students who show strong academic preparedness through high English assessment scores.

You must meet one of the following English assessment scores:

  • Overall IELTS 7.0/TOEFL iBT 94/CAEL 67/PTE 65 - $1,000
  • Overall IELTS 7.5/TOEFL iBT 102/CAEL 74/PTE 76 or above - $1,500
  • Overall Duolingo English Test 120 or higher - $1,000

You must submit accepted English assessment results at the time of application. Resubmitting results later won't be considered for this award. 

If you qualify for this one-time award you will be notified after enrolment. You can accept the award once your full-time student status is confirmed after the add/drop date of your first semester. The award is automatically applied to your student account to be used towards your tuition. This award amount doesn't have cash value and can't be refunded to students.

 

University Pathway Entrance Scholarships for International Students (SD70, 71, 72)

This award is to acknowledge and encourage international high school students in NIC campus regions to continue their studies in Canada. Each district has up to four scholarships of $2,000. 

You must be a School District 70, 71 or 72 Grade 12 graduate who has applied to participate in one of the following programs and will continue to study on a study permit at NIC:

You must submit your application before June 1. Later applications will only be considered if the scholarships haven't all been awarded. Apply early!

Submit a one-page letter describing your past journey and future goals directly to study@nic.bc.ca by August 15. Please use the subject line “University Pathway Awards”. You may be selected based on academic achievement. If you're the recipient you'll be informed of your selection one month before the start of your program.

You can accept this one-time award once your full-time student status is confirmed after the add/drop date of your first semester. The award is automatically applied to your student account to be used towards your tuition. This award amount doesn't have cash value and can't be refunded.

Language Pathway Student Awards

This award is provided to support international students at NIC’s partner English pathway schools to continue their post-secondary studies.

You must be an applicant from an NIC Language Pathway.

Amount: $1,000 for each student up to three students each intake.

Submit a one-page letter describing your past journey and future goals sent directly to study@nic.bc.ca by August 15. Late applications may be accepted based on availability of funding. We must receive your application before the start of your NIC program.

You can accept this one-time award once your full-time student status is confirmed after the add/drop date of your first semester. The award is automatically applied to your student account to be used towards your tuition. This award amount doesn't have cash value and can't be refunded.

 

International Regional Award

NIC offers entrance awards for applicants from regions where NIC actively and selectively recruits new students. Amount: $1,000 - $2,000 for each student*

You must be an applicant from one of the following countries:

Africa: Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ghana, Ethiopia
MENA: Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Qatar, Iraq, Iran, Oman
Latin America & Caribbeans: Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Brazil
Other regions: Bhutan, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan

You must be an applicant for Human Services Educational Assistant/Community Support Certificate/Diploma special cohort.

If you receive this one-time award you'll be notified upon enrolment. The award is automatically applied to your student account to be used towards your tuition once your full-time student status is confirmed after the add/drop date of your first semester. This award amount doesn't have cash value and can't be refunded to students.
