Apprenticeship funding
While you're enrolled in technical trades training (level 100-400), there are many financial supports to help pay for tuition, tools, equipment and living expenses.
SkilledTradesBC
SkilledTradesBC is the organization that advances BC’s trades training system. It offers resources and information for students in the trades.
WorkBC
WorkBC offers information for apprentices and employers seeking access to financial support.
Canada apprentice loans
Canada student loans offers apprentice loans to support you while you're in technical training. These loans are 0% interest and normally go into repayment after you achieve your Red Seal.
Awards
Bursaries, scholarships and awards are available from many organizations. Please check directly wtih your secondary school, union and professional organization to ask what opportunities they may have.
BC Scholarship Society
Each year, the BC Scholarship Society offers hundreds of awards varying between $1,000 and $10,000 for students across BC.
- Transfer Scholarships are available for students who are transferring between two post-secondary institutions and are awarded based on academic achievement.
- Indigenous Student Awards are offered for students pursuing trades training, an apprenticeship or diploma, certificate, degree or post-degree programs.
- International Scholarships are also offered for students planning to complete post-secondary courses or related work experience abroad.

Indigenous funding
Indigenous students may be eligible for scholarships, bursaries or funding through your nation’s office. Get in touch with an NIC Indigenous Education navigator to review upcoming opportunities. If you’re a current NIC student, you can also book an appointment with a financial aid advisor.
Sponsorship funding
If you’re set to receive financial support from an outside agency, fill out a Funding Agency Sponsorship Agreement form or if you're a current student, contact an advisor through myNIC to learn more.
