Accessibility
We're committed to removing barriers for all people with disabilities who study, work, or visit NIC's campuses and centres. When we do this, we improve accessibility for everyone.
Accessibility at NIC
Accessibility means making sure everyone can use and enjoy our spaces, programs, and services. Guided by accessibility legislation, we work to remove barriers so that all people, including those with disabilities, can fully participate in college life.

Accessiblity Plan
We're committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone.

Employee resources
We're dedicated to creating a fair environment where everyone can access and participate in college life. All employees play a role in building an accessible and inclusive community, and we provide services to support employees' accessibility needs.
Workplace accommodations
The Division of People and Culture at NIC is committed to providing a fair and accessible work environment. According to Human Rights legislation, the College takes reasonable steps to accommodate employees and job applicants who have medical conditions, injuries, or disabilities that create barriers to their work.
These accommodations may include changes to physical workspace, adaptations to equipment or tools, adjustments to working conditions, or reassignment of some non-essential tasks. Accommodations can be temporary, periodic, or long-term, depending on the employee's medical condition and individual needs.
Short and long-term disability
We support employees who become unwell and need time off work due to illness or injury. Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance are part of the employee group benefits plan. If employees become unable to work for a period of time due to illness or injury (while insured), and their paid sick leave is ending, they may be eligible to apply for STD benefits that provide income replacement. Manulife provides STD/LTD benefits according to the terms outlined in the employee group benefits eBooklet.
Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP)
NIC employees and their dependent family members have access to a range of health and wellness services through the Employee and Family Assistance Program. This program offers confidential services and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
